In the past century, in fact, wine production and consumption have not simply been a consequence of major cultural and socio-economic changes but, in some cases, have determined the fate of larger contexts. Acknowledged as the undisputed father of the renaissance of Italian oenology, Ambrogio has devoted his entire life to the pursuit of excellence, helping change wine tasting and creating, through an enhancement of the nuances of terroir, Supertuscan wines that have won acclaim across the world. Determined to generate a culture of wine understood as an element of richness rooted in the land, he has educated and refined palates, helping to improve wine drinking culture with the gift of wisdom and balance, thereby creating a legacy of innovation, creativity, research and respect for the land. At the head of Chianti Ruf? no in Pontassieve, he opted for Tuscany as the land of choice, creating iconic wines capable of combining tradition and modern taste. During the 1970s and 1980s, Ambrogio was responsible for a turning point in the entire industry, with the comeback of reds that, previously classified as table wines, were able to showcase the peculiarities of a terroir with a millennium of history. 1982 marked the birth of Cabreo, a wine of high quality that crowned all the oenological research of its creator. Cabreo immediately became the emblem and prominent flagship of the family business, capable of attracting the interest of all industry professionals and above all critics, and it is the wine to which Ambrogio most affectionately binds his name.
